My name is Nita, my husbands name is Jonathan and our first and only daughter of a year and a half is Elaina, who was born with PRS.
Elaina, like most PRS babies, was born in respiratory distress. It took doctors about 10 minutes to get her breathing on her own but not with out the assistance of suction and CPAP.
We spent almost the first two months of life in hospitals. And after getting out within the first year of life Elaina had a minimum of 60 doctors appts. with many different specialists.
It has been our challenge but to our joy we have managed to train Elaina to take the haberman bottle successfully and I mean successfully! She can easily take 200mls/per feed in 15 minutes...that is when she's concentrating and not trying to get on and off my lap to play ; ) This training..and it is exactly that, is easier said then done. But with a lot of hard work, persistence, patience and firm love, we got there.
We are currently waiting to have her cleft repaired which will mostly be done in the next month.
nita did you have much trouble with the cpap our 9 week old will not tolerate it at all and is missing out on its benefits. the cap itself does not fit properly and she just screams with it on
