Ok ive read the posts on parent having trouble feeding with the Hauberman feeder. This is what i do all the time now to feed my daughter (4 months old) and get a full feed (180ml) into her in under 15mins including burp breaks.
This works for my child, and hopefully it can work for yours too.
What you need is one of them bouncy chairs, strap junior in. Put on a bib and towel over the top as it can get messy. Make sure junior is relaxed and settled and hungry.
Load up the teet so its full, put it in the mouth over the tongue when jr starts the suck motion squase the tet as hard as you can without make jr gag on it. You will be surprised at the speed and volume that they can take it in. Make sure you dont take the teet out to refill it, just release the teet to fill it up more as jr is sucking. When its time to burp release them from the chair and give them a burp.
Once the burp is over repeat the process.
Always make sure you use warm milk.
We have all been told to feed out PRS kids in a upright position but ive found with my child she likes it better like this and perhaps your might too.
I tried it first like this simply because i was not confident feeding her on my lap, and wasnt really getting much success at it. so it tried it like this, more comfortable for daddy and baby. She is now going on 4 months and we got rid of her NGT well over a month ago. She is putting on weight and sleeps throughout the night and the whole family is happy :) She also has a soft and hard cleft pallate.
Hi my son is five and a Half weeks old as was diagnosed with PRS when we went down to the RCH for an outpatiant appoint. This resulted in a week and a half stay in the NNU. My little man had been feeding briliantly at home by filling the teat and squeezing as fast as he could take then giving him a breather when he needed! He was taking 120ml in 30mins at a week of age!! Little piggy!!! When we were at the RCH it was tested if he was able to suck the milk out himself which he was completely unable to do so we went back to how we found best!! It was also suggested that we sit him up but I generally sit with my legs crossed and him laying in them and it works wonders for us!!! It was also suggested to use the footy hold ( lay him flat on his side) but I've found it works really well when he is really hungry but if he is just munching some of the milk tends to come out his nose!! I say just experiment and find what works best for you!!!
